Tips From A Salon Self-Starter

Paul Phillips did hair around the world- from South Africa to the middle East to Australia and more, he learned his trade in some of the most unconventional places and ways. When he came back to his home, the UK, he set about setting up a salon of is own. Now he is the owner of Chopp hair, a successful UK salon.

His first piece of advice is to have the right ingredients. What does that mean. First, have a great accountant who can answer all of your financial questions. Also keep around people who can do things like web design and graphic design for you! You are a stylist and salon owner, not a Swiss army knife!

Remember also to invest in your team. That means taking time to train, touch base, and connect with these people- they aren’t your employees, they are your teammates. You’re not the boss, you’re the captain. Similar, but not the same concepts.

Also remember the things you do outside of the salon mean a lot to the people of the community you’re in. Charity events, for example, and participate in contests! These are good for your team, you, and the business.
