Making Marketing Work

Marketing is tough for any industry, but it’s particularly tough in an industry like ours which is mostly word of mouth. One new salon owner has been finding a lot of success in some non-standard marketing arenas.

One thing that absolutely does not work for salons as it does elsewhere are vouchers. Groupon and whatnot do not help us out. When people use those coupons they don’t see service beyond the discount value. They aren’t the kind of traffic you really want because they aren’t coming there for your work, but for the prices. She also saw that other social sites were useful, but didn’t really get people in the door the way she wanted.

So she combined the two. She took the coupon and social networking nonsense, along with reviews, and made Pamperpad- which is great tool for salons and spas to really grab a hold of marketing. It works by targeting the kinds of customers who are looking for your types of services- so you get people in the door who want to find a regular stylists.
